Mac Supernova Mineralize Blush 

MAC Supernova Mineralize Blush ($23.50) is a new, limited edition baked blush released in the Heavenly Creatures Collection that launched in stores yesterday (July 5th).

The "Mineralize" products by MAC are either hated or loved, and I love them. What I love specifically about the Mineralize Blushes, is that they are very soft and blend easier than standard, pressed powder blushes.

Typically, those who prefer matte finish cheek products steer clear of Mineralize cheek products because of the pearly (sometimes shimmery - but not glittery) finish.

Supernova is described on the MAC website as a magenta and burnished gold melange. That pretty much says it - it's a magenta base, intertwined with a swirl of gold-bronze. The magenta is quite cool, but when the swirl of gold and magenta is combined, it creates a slightly reddened pink tone to the magenta.

The blush itself is very pigmented, and because Supernova is a fairly deep shade, you have to apply it with a light hand, or you can quickly go overboard with it. A duo fibre brush (such as the E.L.F Stipple Brush or MAC 187/188 Brush) will work best for laying down the least color. If you're using a standard blush brush, you only need to tap the product once, and dust the brush on a tissue prior to application to ensure a light application.

Supernova actually isn't that soft in comparison to other mineralize blushes, but I still get a good, even application with it. Although the product does contain a bit of shimmer, it's not as frosty as a MSF and does not emphasis pores.

Overall, I'm really happy with this blush, and for the pink lovers out there, I'm sure you'll like it too!

For now, here's a swatch of it on my hand. I'll update this post soon to show what it looks like on my cheeks. (For now, check it out on Christine of Temptalia. It looks lovely on her!)

I grabbed a few blushes for comparison. I figured Nars Mounia could be very similar, but it turns out they don't come close. It actually looks like Supernova can be created by adding a bit of MAC Frankly Scarlet over MAC Dollymix Blush (or vise-versa).

The Round-Up

Pros:

• Unique shade - I don't own any exact dupes
• Very pigmented color
• Soft, easy to blend texture
• Flattering on all skin tones

Cons:

• Isn't as soft as other mineralize blushes I've tried

  Diferentemente da Paleta de 28 blushes, essa de 96 cores não é opaca, ela é de um material diferente (que eu não sei qual) que dá pra passar até lustra-móveis e deixá-la brilhando!

     

      Não sei se ficou bem nítido nessa imagem, mas a 96 cores não são somente opacas ou shimmer, há um mix delas: algumas opacas, outras shimmer. O que eu gostei dela é que tem vários tons de rosa, roxo, lilás que são os que eu mais gosto e também de marrons, bege. No geral ela é bem dividida, isto é, tem um pouco de tudo: tons laranja, amarelo, verde mais claro, mais escuro, com brilho, sem brilho, azul de vários tonalidades. Dá para criar muitos looks tanto para o dia quanto para a noite. 

      Outro ponto importante é que as sombras shimmer, o brilho não é somente na 1ª camada e quando você passa o pincel eles somem e a 2ª camada da sombra não tem brilho algum: o brilho é nela toda! Já vi muitos estojinhos de sombra onde quando você passa o dedo o brilho sai e não sobra mais nada, mas isso não acontece aqui. Para ter certeza, passei o dedo várias vezes!

    O tamanho das sombras da paleta são um pouco menores que uma moeda de 10 centavos. Na hora de fazer a comparação eu não tinha nenhuma de 1 centavo (as moedas de 1 centavo sumiram, oi?), mas acredito que seria o ideal. 

 

     

As cores shimmer são mais pigmentadas que as opacas (as shimmer é só encostar o dedo que já pega) mas não vi isso como um problema. Na imagem abaixo todas as cores estão sem primer. Acredito que usando um, as opacas ficariam no ponto e as shimmers, ainda mais pigmentadas!
